The A.B.C

A for Aeroplane
B for Block
C for Castle

Nahh~

ABC for this post stand for Air Batu Campur or Air Kacang = Mixed Ice(literally meaning). ABC is among the favourite dessert in a sunny day. It is also common in Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.

Manual Block Ice Shaver

During the old days, they usually used the metal machine/manual blocks ice shaver and they have to role it by hand. Compared to this days, complete with the modern technology, there are lots of ice shaving machine in market such as:

Hand Blender - Small Cube Ice Only

Electric Ice Shaver

This is what we have at home. Kak Yatie, who just went back from Japan, gave us this stuff as a souvenir.

 Modern Ice Shaver?

"Formerly, it was made of only shaved ice and red beans, though the number and diversity of ingredients has since expanded. Today, ais kacang generally comes in bright colours, and with different fruit coctails and dressings.

In Malaysia, almost all variants now contain a large serving, red beans, sweet corn, grass jelly and cubes of agar-agar as a common ingredients. Other less-common ingredients include aloe vera, cendol, nata de coco or ice cream. A final topping of evaporated milk, condensed milk, or coconut milk is drizzled over the mountain of ice along with red syrup, sarsi syrup or gula melaka syrup. Some stalls have even introduced novelty topping such as durian, chocolate syrup and ice cream." - Wikipedia

My dongseng(little brother) and I do compete to each other to produce the best ABC last week. Which both taste the same because we are using the same kind of ingredients.
